We only make the firm ones.
Every KITA and Fibrelux mattress carries a published firmness rating from 7 to 10. Pick by the number, not by an adjective.

You can soften a firm mattress. You cannot firm a soft one.
Add a topper to a firm bed and you have changed the feel by the afternoon. Try the reverse and nothing happens. Putting something on top of jelly does not make the jelly solid, it just moves the problem up an inch.
That is the whole reason we sell firm. Buying firm keeps both options open. Buying soft closes one of them permanently, and you find out two years in, when the sag is already there.
Soft when you want it, firm when you do not. Reversible.
No topper fixes a core that gives way underneath it.
Buy firm
The support core is the one thing you cannot change later. Get that right first and everything above it is adjustable.
Sleep on it
Most people who think they want soft actually want less pressure at the shoulder or hip. Give a firm bed two weeks before you judge it.
Soften it if you want
Add a 2 inch topper and the feel changes in an afternoon. Take it off and you are back to firm. The decision stays yours.
Four reasons, none of them marketing.
Firm is not better for everyone. It suits these four situations, which cover most of the people who write to us. Our range starts at 7, which is medium firm, not at the hard end.
Spinal alignment
A firm core holds your hips and shoulders on the same plane instead of letting the heaviest part of you sink. That is the whole mechanism behind firm mattresses and back support.
It keeps its shape
Softer comfort layers compress permanently. A dense support core resists the body impression that turns a three-year-old bed into a hammock.
Built for heavier frames
The heavier you are, the further you sink at the same firmness. Our ratings start at 7 and run to 10 so a heavier sleeper can still find real support.
The orthopaedic feel
The firm, level surface physiotherapists describe when they say a supportive bed. Not a medical claim, just the feel people are usually asking for.
Seven questions. One rating.
Firmness is not a preference, it is a fit. Answer these and we will tell you the rating that suits your body, and which of our two ranges gets you there.
Solid foam or coconut fibre.
Neither range is the better one. They solve firmness in two different ways, and the right answer depends on your weight, your climate and whether you ever plan to move the thing yourself.
Solid Foam
Lighter, easier to live with, and the cheaper route into a genuinely firm bed.
- Easier to move, rotate and handle
- A more affordable entry into firm support
- Consistent feel, no natural material variation
- Firm support without the weight penalty
- Anyone who dislikes the feel of natural fibre
Coconut Fibre
Heavier to handle, and the firmest thing we sell.
- You specifically want natural materials
- Heavier body types needing maximum support
- The very top of the firmness scale
- Better breathability and heat dissipation
- A long-term primary bed, not a spare room
- The closest thing to sleeping on a solid surface

I trade futures for a living. That is why this store is so obsessed with specifications.
I am Kit. My day is spent reading order flow, where being tired is expensive and being vague about your numbers is worse. I started KITA after learning the hard way that a sagging bed costs you focus, and that almost nobody selling mattresses will give you a straight number for how firm one is.
So we publish the rating, the materials and the test results on every product, and we stopped stocking anything soft. Sleep is not rest. It is risk management.
